The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his commitment to introducing a new tax structure to foster economic growth and development if elected as President on December 7, 2024.
He also promised to train a million young Ghanaians in software development and coding, acknowledging the importance of technology in the modern workforce.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a business resource centre at Agormanya in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality. The World Bank funded the project.
The construction of the centre, which started in May 2021 and was completed in 2023, has 11 guest rooms, 15 offices, 300-seat meeting spaces and a restaurant.
“You see this beautiful edifice right here, it was under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led administration that made it possible for it to be put up and this and many more developmental initiatives await you if you vote for me as your President and Simon Kweku Tetteh as your Member of Parliament (MP),” he said.
Vote NPP
Dr Bawumia asked the people to vote for not just him as President but also the NPP’s parliamentary aspirants.
He outlined his vision for the future, focusing on several key initiatives and commitments such as the need for updates to the National Service Programme, which had been a cornerstone of Ghana’s human resource development.
He proposed the introduction of a Ghana Card passport policy, which could potentially streamline the country’s immigration processes. Dr Bawumia said many other initiatives that were introduced have had a significant impact on the lives of many Ghanaians and demonstrated the party’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.
He emphasised the NPP’s dedication to security, highlighting the hiring of over 30,000 workers as a testament to the party’s commitment to job creation and economic growth
Development
The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Simon Kweku Tetteh, who is also the NPP aspirant for Lower Manya Krobo, noted the significant contributions to the development of the constituency.
He said his next challenge was seeking to be elected as the MP for the area as he had worked tirelessly to drive projects and initiatives to improve the living conditions of the people.
“Right now, all I need from you is to be made the MP because I’ve done a great job as the MCE and I know I can do even more if you allow me to become the MP,” he said.
He listed over 80 notable projects that had been completed in the area, including 188 lockable stores and 72 market sheds at Agormanya, the GES office after 47 years of renting and the NHIS office.
He also cited the rehabilitation of inner roads, dormitory and classroom blocks at the Krobo Girls SHS, the school building at Ayermesu Kpeti, the school infrastructure development at the Akro Sec Tech, furniture for schools, disbursement of disability common fund among other projects. — GNA
