Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, says Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his TigerEye PI team have no qualms presenting the raw footage of its latest exposé on galamsey to government.
The well acclaimed investigative journalist has released a new investigative piece dubbed: “Galamsey Fraud Part 1”
This exposé uncovers top government appointees and security personnel who are supposed to help in the fight against Galamsey, “stabbing President Akufo-Addo in the back” and encouraging the practice, which has resulted in the destruction of several water bodies in the country.
Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, touching on the release of the galamsey video, said “government will have the said tapes properly investigated using the raw unedited footage,” adding that the Akufo-Addo led administration appreciates every effort in helping the administration succeed.
….“government has taken notice of a documentary by Tiger Eye PI suggesting that it has uncovered acts that undermine the fight against illegal small scale mining. Government will have the said tapes properly investigated using the raw unedited footage and if any person is found to have solicited money or taken bribe to bend rules, the necessary actions will be taken,” he stated.
Speaking to this in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News, Thursday, Kweku Baako said: “In principle, I have nothing against the government requesting for the raw footage; it is not an unusual request…it is nothing unusual. I am sure Tiger Eye and Anas will oblige them…I think even the edited version; there is enough material that could trigger some government action.”
According to him, “it has happened on many occasions. When the judges’ matter came up, in filing the petition to the President as well as the Chief Justice, the full footage, the unedited version was given to the appropriate judicial authorities as part of their investigations of the judges that were implicated.”
