A gang steals $30 million from a Los Angeles cash vault on Easter Sunday in Southern California. Thieves reportedly stole up to $30 million during an Easter Sunday (March 31) heist at an undisclosed cash warehouse in San Fernando Valley, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The incident took place at a Sylmar facility that handles cash for several businesses in the Southern California region and is believed to be one of the largest robberies ever to hit Los Angeles. The burglary was described as part of a complex plan in which highly skilled burglars entered through the roof of the building and gained access to the safe without activating the alarm system.
Officials were only made aware of the incident after the vault was opened on Monday (April 1) as there were no signs of the break-in outside the actual vault. The Los Angeles Police Department was notified of the incident by officials at the Sylmar facility and collected evidence at the scene.

Law enforcement sources confirmed that the heist totalled $30 million, which was more than all previous armoured car robberies in the Southern California region. Jewelry exhibitors who hired Brinks Security Company to transport merchandise from the northern to southern regions of California were reportedly robbed of up to $150 million worth of jewelry in a July 2022 incident that resulted in no arrests.
Thieves stole two dozen bags of the jewelry while the vehicle was parked at a rest stop while an on-duty security guard was sleeping and another was eating a meal at the truck stop.
