Environmental Health & Sanitation Director Applauds Zoomlion: Urges Ghanaians to Participate in nationwide covid vaccination

The Deputy Environmental Health and Sanitation Director at the Northern Region, Hajia Fati Baba Sibdow has hailed waste management experts Zoomlion Ghana Limited(ZGL) for its efforts in ensuring the waste generated from the ongoing second nationwide vaccination exercise by ensuring that the waste generated is disposed properly and again advised residents in the region and for that matter across the country that the Covid-19 pandemic is real hence the need to participate in the ongoing exercise.

Hajia Fati speaking to a section of journalists at the Tamale Central Sub District of the Ghana Health Service, said that the exercise she and a team from the Regional Coordinating Council have been tasked to monitor the vaccination centres to see how the exercise is being done.

“Some of the activities I have visited with my team are, monitoring the centres where the exercise is taking place and saw how the waste is been collected by Zoomlion Medical Waste Limited.

Hajia Fati added that her team from the NRCC Environmental Health and Sanitation Directorate monitor to know whether the containers meant for the hazardous are placed at the right places in order to avoid any side effects.

” Currently we are at the Tamale Regional Health Centre after we have visited the savelugu Reproductive Care Child Health Centre among others she disclosed.
Many are still not aware that the AstraZeneca Vaccines are inn and that has resulted in low patronage at some places” she assured.

She was unhappy the internet connection was terrible in most of the centres leading to low patronage for some time now but gave the assurance that it will pick up in due course.

“My advice to the general public is that covid is real so people should take the vaccine serious to ensure that all their families and friends are been vaccinated”. She added

The Northern Regional Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited Mr. Peter Dawuni in his remarks said that a team of experts from the Zoomlion Medical Waste was already deployed to all the 35 centres together with all the logistics that are needed.

An officer with the Ghana Health Service at the Savelugu noted that the patronage was low probably because it is the first day of the exercise and the system used in the vaccination has also delayed the process.

He again applauded Zoomlion Ghana Limited for it’s efforts in the waste management sector especially in relation to this exercise.

” Let me commend the government for collaborating with Zoomlion Medical waste team because waste management is very important. A lot of waste will be generated during the vaccination so it’s good the Zoomlion Medical team has come on board with their expertise to manage the waste”.
