Mass Disinfection Exercise Hits Basic Schools In Ashanti Region

Public and private basic schools in the Ashanti Region on Saturday, January 9, 2021 benefited from the ongoing mass schools disinfection and fumigation exercise.

The exercise follows the President’s directive for all educational institutions to be fumigated and disinfected before reopening.

Among the schools disinfected and fumigated included Christ The King of Kings International School, Bantama Presby Junior High School etc.

The Proprietor of Christ The King of Kings, John Kofi Atta, expressed his excitement at the sight of the exercise.

“I am very happy that my school has been included in the mass disinfection exercise.  In fact, it will help protect the school against Covid and other viruses,” he said.

The exercise, he stressed, will allay the fears of both the students and their parents on the Covid-19.

In that regard, he parised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his government’s decision to reopen all educational institutions after almost one year closure.

Beyond his excitement, Mr Atta noted that his school was poised to receive the pupils back to school, adding all the Covid measures have been put in place to safeguard the pupils against the virus.

He also said the school has enough classrooms to practise the social/physical distancing protocol.

“…each class will take 20 pupils instead of our normal 35,” he averred.

The school is expecting about 700 pupils when school finally reopens on January 15, he disclosed.

“We have about 2,000 nose masks for both staff members and pupils, Veronica buckets and alcohol-based hand sanitisers which would all be made available for use when we reopen,” Mr Atta underscored.

For his part, the Environmental Health Officer of Bantama Sub-Metro, Kwame Simon Nanyoh, said Zoomlion was using the right chemical to do the disinfection which was not harmful to humans.

So I want to assure our parents that their wards will be safe going back to school,” he assured.

However, he advised parents to educate their children on the safety Covid protocols.
