Pay my three years’ salary – Sacked Wa Regional Hospital Medical Director demands

he dismissed Medical Director of the Wa Regional Hospital, Dr. Barnabas Gandau has revealed that he has not been paid his salary and other allowances due him for the past three years.

“I should pay back GH¢25, 000 Salary advance to be paid from my GHS salary/allowances which they refused to pay so that it will oblige me to resign Is the first reason. Where will I get the money if for three and a half years government has not paid me a pesewa to be able to maintain my family and pay my debts which are attracting interest every month”, he quizzed in a statement sighted by MyNewsGh.com.

The dismissed Medical Director assumed office at the Regional Hospital in 2016 on secondment from the University for Development Studies (UDS) and in just a year, thus, 2016-2017, an Internal Audit Report covering this period, exposed alleged infraction in the financial management of the hospital, leading to misappropriation and misapplication of fund under his watch.

The Internal Audit Report recommended that Dr. Gandau be made to refunds an amount of GH¢25,000.00 granted him on March 24, 2019 which has still not been paid back.

But reacting to the directive he said “This query I must say was flawed by the first team DG sent after that of Regional Minister together with the RDHS ordered. In the view of DG’s forensic team, the accountant did a poor job by writing the application for salary advance himself for me to approve and sign the cheque which he personally deposited to keep the pay-in-slip for his diabolical future reference. I must say that my accountant and the wife have been my patients for over 13 years now. By my Hippocratic Oath, he knew how to use that against me any time I tried to query him over none performance”
