PHOTOS: JHS Graduate Mysteriously Commits Suicide Over ‘No School Placement’

Report convened has it that all is not well in community where the unthinkable thing happened.

The family of an eighteen year old girl and the residents of Kentinkrono in the Ashanti Region have been thrown into a state of shock and mourning this morning after their daughter hanged herself to death.

The girl who is identified as Afia, is a junior high school graduate who failed to get placement in the ongoing computerized school selection placement system by the Ghana Education service for JHS graduates. According to the father of the deceased, he woke up at 3: 00am this dawn to use the washroom and bumped into her daughter hanging on a tree in their house.

“I called my wife and informed her what had happened. I then removed the rope around her neck and hurriedly rushed her to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology hospital at Tech campus and that is where she was pronounced dead by the medical staff”.

My daughter was hale and hearty and didn’t show any signs of depression even after checking her placement. Her name wasn’t on the placement list and the self placement option had no course or school of her choice, so I assured and promised her, I will do everything within my means to help her get a school and course of her choice.

Waking up to this news, is heartbreaking and I still don’t understand why my daughter would do this. I think there is more to this because it is the first of it’s kind in my family”. he said

The matter has been reported to the Tech police station for further investigations.
