Residents of Duayaw Nkwanta Shows Appreciation To Gov’t For Evacuating illegal Dumpsites

Traditional leaders,Residents and indigines of duayaw Nkwanta sited in the Ahafo Region have shown excitement to His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government for evacuating an illegal dumpsite aged over 100 years as part of the emergency evacuation exercise programme nationwide.

 

 

The Mmrantiehene of Duayaw Nkwanta Nana Krobea Asante in an interview on behalf of the residents show appreciation to the government for embarking on the exercise.

This dumpsite has been there over 100 years and over because I came to meet it and now 60 years.

“It has been existence for over 100 years. People have built around the refuse site. The refuse keeps increasing because of the population so we will say thank you to the government for the exercise. It would have bring more diseases in the community so we don’t have anything to say, than thank you to the government and also the Municipal chief Executive Hon. Ernest Kwarteng. Nana Krobea added

 

The Assembly Member Tromo electoral area Hon. Lewis Owusu Ansah Also appealed to the government more containers to avoid the same situation.

“Measures will be put in place but I will depend on the Assembly to liaise with Waste Management giants zoomlion Ghana Limited to make the necessary of the containers. Task force will be provided 24 hours to see to it that no one dump refuse the ground to encounter the Same problem. It has dumpsite has been a burden on the community since time in memorial”.

He applauded the government and especially the Minister for Sanitation and water resources Hon. Cecelia Abena Dapaah for the work she is doing to make the vision of the President achieved.

 

 

Municipal Environmental Health Officer Ms. Esther Tegah also pledged to do supervision together with her staff at the assembly to ensure the purpose of the exercise will not be in vain.

 

“My office will supervise and monitor the activities of zoomlion to make sure that communal containers are provide and transportation of the waste from the collection point to the final site should on time. Site attendants will also be supervised to ensure that the site is always clean”. Ms. Tegah stated

 

The Municipal Chief Executive officer Tano North Hon. Ernest Kwarteng in his remarks expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Sanitation and water resources led by the affable Hon. Cecelia Abena Dapaah and the Ahafo regional minister Hon. Evans Opoku-Bobie as well as the Member of parliament for the area Hon. Freida Prempeh.

 

“My humble appeal to zoomlion is to provide us enough containers so that their efforts will not be in vain. This land can also be used for another beneficial project after the evacuation.  This ease the financial burden on the assembly

This refuse dump is the oldest in the region and I will ensure a task force is put in place for the target of the government to achieved”. Hon. Kwarteng added

 

The paramount Chief of Duayaw Nkwanta Traditional area Nana Boakye Tromo III .also appreciation to the government for the efforts made.

 

The debris have been in the community for over 100 years. When he was a training teacher, he came to meet the situation in the community. It is a good exercise being undertaken by government. It will help eradicate the stench that comes from debris after heavy downpours. He is also calling on politicians not to create chaos after the 2020 elections. We must help politicians understand that losing an election doesn’t mean the end of life. We must encourage the loser. Journalist must also be truthful when reporting.
