SA Xenophobic attacks: No Ghanaian among casualties – Gov’t

Government has joined other African countries in condemning the ongoing xenophobic attacks at Johannesburg and other cities in South Africa.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government disclosed that so far there are no confirmed Ghanaian casualties among the victims.

Government has charged the authorities in South Africa to take every necessary action in order to promote harmonious cohabitations among the citizenry and other nationals in the country.

The statement further noted that the High Commission in South Africa has cautioned Ghanaians in the region to avoid all areas prone to violence.

“The High Commission of Ghana in Pretoria has set up the following emergency lines through which our Ghanaian nationals in distress could contact the mission for urgent assistance: TEL:+271-234-258-47/8

The Government wishes to assure the Ghanaian public that there is no confirmed Ghanaian casualties at the moment, Our High Commission in Pretoria is monitoring the situation closely and any new developments will be communicated accordingly”, part of the statement read
