Supreme Court orders sale of 2 Woyome Trassaco mansions

The woes of embattled businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome is far from over as Supreme Court yet in another ruling has ordered for the sale of two of his Trassaco mansions to offset part of the debt owed the state.

The court presided over by Justice Baffoe Bonnie directed that the properties valued at GH¢3.4 million and GH¢8.8 respectively all at Trassaco in the Greater Accra Region be auctioned.

It would be recalled that a similar ruling last month was given by Justice Alfred Benin where a number of properties were ordered to be sold  to defray part of the judgement debt he fraudulently received from the state.

Mr Woyome was paid GH¢51 million for helping Ghana raise funds to construct stadia for purposes of hosting the CAN 2008 Nations Cup.

However, an Auditor General’s report released in 2010 said the amount was paid illegally to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier.

There have been many legal tussles to retrieve the money.

Former AG, Martin Amidu, however, proceeded to the Supreme Court as a private citizen and managed to retrieve for the state millions of cedis said to have been paid illegally to Mr Woyome.

The judges stayed a verdict on the Woyome case Amidu brought before them because the matter was pending before the High Court.

He later went on a review and had the court rule in his favour  but Woyome was asked to refund the GH¢51 million to the state with moves by the AG to sell off his property in order to offset part of the debt which has since been granted.

But Woyome has earlier stated that he is ready to sit down with government to agree on terms to repay the GH¢51.2 million debt he owes the State
