Chief Executive OfficerCEO) for the defunct UT Bank Kofi Amoabeng says he expected Ghanaians Christians to pray for him to be a good enough Christian when he said he does not believe in tithing.
Kofi Amoabeng is on record to have said that he does not believe in paying tithe and that it’s only a fool who will pay tithe to a Pastor.
The embattled CEO was chided by Ghanaian Christians who described him with several unprintable words.
“I don’t pay tithe. I would not give 10 percent, and nobody can force me to give 10 percent of my money to anybody. So I don’t pay tithe. I do all sorts of philanthropic jobs myself. I see where there is a need for me to help, and I help.
“I don’t have to give it to somebody who then decides where to put the money. So it is my hard-earned money, and I should put it where I want to put it,” he revealed at the time
According to him, most Christians were ecstatic when eventually the government closed down his bank and merged it with GCB Bank.
But speaking in an interview with Mx-24Gh monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the businessman said he expected Ghanaian Christians to pray for him if they felt his believes were not right but rather, as usual of Ghanaians, were condemning him and calling him all sort of names.
“If I’m not good enough as a Christian, you should pray for me, you don’t have to condemn me because I pray for my enemies and pray for people that are down. I don’t jeer at them, so that is where we are.”
