Ghanaians have expressed mixed reactions to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) statement that there will be no room for the transfer of votes in the 2020 elections.
In less than six months, electorates will be heading to the polls to decide who rules the country for the next four years.
The road to the 2020 general election has been fraught with a number of controversies. The elections management body has been hit with legal suit challenging the authority’s decision to come up with a new voters register.
As the country readies to compile a new voters register, the EC says electorates would be expected to register at where they reside or would be voting in December.
According to the Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, to transfer your vote, one must have registered 12 months prior to the transfer.
He added with less than six months to the election, nobody will qualify to transfer their votes within six months of registering.
GhanaWeb spoke to some electorates on the transfer of votes been ruled out of the general elections and they expressed mixed reactions.
