In a resounding declaration, Hon. Naana Ackom Margaret, the trailblazing Municipal Chief Executive of Gomoa East, has assured the youth within her jurisdiction that she will tirelessly work to create employment opportunities for both certificated and uncertificated individuals.
This promise was made during her official assumption of office, flanked by Paramount Chiefs, heads of faith-based organizations, professionals, and technocrats.
The distinguished stakeholders, who played pivotal roles in governance, counseled Hon. Naana Ackom to prioritize accelerating development in Gomoa East through massive job creation. They emphasized the need for her to focus on employment opportunities for the general public, particularly her party members who worked tirelessly for the party’s victory in the 2024 elections.
In her address to an enthusiastic crowd comprising NDC members, stakeholders, sympathizers, family, friends, and mostly youth, Hon. Naana Ackom declared
“As a youth myself, I will not turn my back on you. I will do my very best to create a lot of jobs for the youth. Everyone must have the opportunity to work, regardless of educational background. Whether you have a school certificate or not, you should still have access to employment.
The lack of academic certification should not deny you a livelihood. Many jobs do not require certificates.” She said
Drawing from her experience on the campaign trails, Hon. Naana Ackom noted, “We never asked for certificates before people joined the campaign. So why should certificates now be a barrier to your employment?” While emphasizing the significance of education, she clarified,
“I am not downplaying the importance of education. Education has played a major role in my life and has contributed to my current position. Therefore, education will be one of my flagship priorities. I will ensure strong support for those in school and those yet to begin. We will organize workshops and skills training for the youth to help them gain additional knowledge and competencies. But let me be clear academic certificates will not be a hindrance to employment, just as they were not a requirement during our campaign efforts.”
As the youngest ever Municipal Chief Executive in the history of Gomoa East, Hon. Naana Ackom’s commitment to youth empowerment and employment has sent a strong message of hope to the residents of the district. Her leadership promises to prioritize the needs of the youth, providing them with opportunities to thrive and contribute to the development of Gomoa East.
