The Government of Ghana has acquired new trains for the country’s railway transportation system.
The initial batch of 12 contemporary diesel powered trains is intended for operation on both regional and long-distance lines of Ghana Railways.
It is anticipated to be delivered from Poland by the middle of the upcoming month.
As per information received by Polish website “RK”, the first vehicle is already undergoing final tests at the Pesa factory in Bydgoszcz; the new diesel multiple unit may be on its way to Ghana before the end of this month
The framework contract with the Ghanaian Railways covers 12 diesel multiple units, with 10 vehicles being an option for the ordering party.
The vehicle is technically similar to the RegioFox vehicles that Bydgoszcz produces for Czech Railways.
Deputy Information Minister, Fatimatu Abubakar, shared images of the trains on her social media platform, verifying the news on Friday, January 19th.
