GOVERNMENT SHOULD CAUTION THE MINISTRY OF LANDS AND NATURAL RESOURCES AND ALSO THE MINERALS COMMISSION FROM ISSUING OUT LICENSES TO UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE – Nana Kweku Ofori Atta

Nana Kweku Ofori Atta

It is of great honor to see the president moving at the right direction by meeting the National house of chives and the various MMDCEs in the Ashanti Region with the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources to negotiate with them to assist him embark on the fight of the ongoing galamsey crisis destroying our lands and water bodies.

It is a bold initiative Mr. President, but i will plead with you on the other hand, to make it a priority as you dialogue and negotiate with the chiefs.

To also send a strong word of caution to the Minerals Commission and also the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to be proactive and careful in issuing certifications/licenses to alleged unqualified citizens in the name of political affiliations. Secondly, i will plead with you, Mr President to negotiate with the paramount chiefs of these various areas where mining companies are cited by paying royalties to them to use it to develop their communities as their contribution in adding development to the nation.

Let us not forget that we as people are the government and much is expected of us. Government cannot do it all alone.

To refer you to my article, which suggests to your high office to consider using surveillance gadgets to combat galamsey, I know you are a listening president and you will not decline my humble plea.
