Government Urged To Support Indigenous People To Cut Importation

A regular panel on South Africa – based Press Radio current affairs program dubbed “Ghana Te Sen”, Rev. Emmanuel Donkor has observed that Ghana could cut importation of goods if the indigenous people are being supported.

He said cutting down importation of goods will strengthen the local currency (cedis) and create jobs for the unemployed youth if the business magnates and entrepreneurs are being supported.

Adding that, the commitment of government to support the indigenous people will contribute to the country’s development, especially to actualize the Ghana Beyond Aid policy.

Rev. Emmanuel Donkor said this on Press Radio current affairs program dubbed “Ghana Te Sem” hosted by Kwaku Anane Junior on Saturday, 31st August 2019.

He bemoaned over the fact that the government of Ghana has failed to assist Apostle Kwadwo Safo, the Founder and Leader of the Christ Reformed Church (Kristo Asafo Mission), and the country is still importing car and agrochemicals.

“The government should partner with Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo so that some of his cars can be given to the MPs, Ministers, Secondary schools and other intuitions and use three of his agro-input inventions, organic fertilizer, a pesticide and a weedicide in the agricultural sector for him to get money so that he can compete with his competitors in other countries” he stated.

“We need to build our own, if Nigeria has not being supported Aliko Dangote we would not have talked about Dangote being the richest Man in Africa, so we must also support the indigenous people with the necessary materials and equipment” he noted.

According to him, access to funding and mentoring opportunities continued to be a major challenge for many entrepreneurs in Ghana situation he said is negatively affecting production in the country.
