The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Regional Appropriate Technology Industrial Service (GRATIS) Foundation, Dr. Isaac Adaebsah, has outlined a bold and transformative vision aimed at repositioning the Foundation as a powerhouse in Ghana’s industrialization agenda.
Speaking on the future direction of GRATIS, Dr. Adaebsah disclosed that the Foundation currently operates without any legal framework a gap he is determined to close.
He further noted that the absence of a centralized operational system has significantly affected the Foundation’s efficiency, adding that efforts are underway to build a stronger, more integrated system that allows for improved coordination and monitoring of all GRATIS centers across the country.
“Currently, GRATIS has no legal backing, there is no Act establishing it. I have therefore initiated a process to secure an Act that will provide the necessary legal framework to support the activities of GRATIS. At present, GRATIS also lacks a centralized operational system, which is affecting our efficiency. I aim to establish a legally backed institution with a centralized system to effectively monitor and coordinate the activities of all our centers.” He said
Dr. Isaac Adaebsah explained that, as part of his long-term legacy, he will develop a five- to ten-year strategic development plan aligned with current government initiatives to ensure that the Foundation remains committed to its core mandate of promoting appropriate technology for national development.
In a bid to enhance product quality and global competitiveness, the GRATIS CEO also stressed the importance of obtaining ISO certification for the Foundation. Looking further into the future, Dr. Adaebsah expressed hope that GRATIS will become a dominant force in local industrial manufacturing, especially in the production of spare parts.
“In addition, I intend to develop a five- to ten-year strategic development plan that aligns with current government initiatives. This will ensure that we remain focused on our core mandate as the GRATIS Foundation.
“I also want to ensure that we successfully implement the ISO certification process so that our products can meet global standards and compete internationally. Ultimately, I envision a time when GRATIS will dominate the local industry by producing most, if not all, of the spare parts needed for our economy
