GRATIS Foundation partners Korean firm to boost Ghana’s gari industry

GRATIS Foundation and CERTAIN GTS Co. Ltd, a Korean company, have partnered to upgrade Ghana’s gari industry through a Carbon Financing Gari Processing Project.

The collaboration aims to introduce modern, energy-efficient processing equipment to reduce firewood use and promote cleaner gari production.

The project, led by GRATIS Foundation, will establish assembly centers in selected regions and train youth in machinery assembly, operation, and maintenance.

This initiative aligns with Ghana’s goals of driving industrial development through sustainable technology and green innovation.

Benefits of the project include:

  • Job creation for youth
  • Improved working conditions, especially for women
  • Increased productivity in rural gari-processing communities
  • Contribution to Ghana’s carbon emission reduction efforts
  • Access to carbon finance opportunities for rural communities

The partnership is expected to transform the gari value chain, strengthen local manufacturing, and support rural economic growth.
