Gyan becomes 3rd Ghanaian to play for Indian side North East United

Asamoah Gyan has become latest Ghanaian to sign for Indian Super League side North East United FC.

The 33 year old strike joined the Guwahati-based outfit on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Turkish club Kayserispor.

The move makes him the third Ghanaian in the history of the club after Francis Okoro Dadzie from Bechem United in 2015 and Augustine Okrah in 2018.

The club was only formed in 2014 and their highest finish in the Indian Super League was last season as they claimed fourth place.

Gyan will hope to replace NorthEast’s top scorer from last season Bartholomew Ogbeche, who scored 12 goals before leaving to join Indian rivals the Kerala Blasters.
