The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, on Monday, April 4, 2025, inaugurated a new seven-member board for the Ghana Regional Appropriate Technology Industrial Service (GRATIS) Foundation.
The inauguration of the board marks a significant step toward enhancing industrial and agribusiness development in Ghana, with members urged to introduce innovative approaches to technical training that align with the country’s evolving technological landscape.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and officiated by the Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare. The Minister commended the newly appointed board members for accepting the call to service and urged them to bring their expertise and dedication to bear in shaping the future of the Foundation and advancing the Ministry’s broader vision.
“This board represents a blend of tradition, technical knowledge, education, and business acumen their leadership will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring that GRATIS Foundation continues to play a vital role in promoting local industry and agribusiness development across the country.” She said
The GRATIS Foundation, known for promoting appropriate technology and industrial development in Ghana, will benefit from the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the board members, who include chiefs, educators, technocrats, and business leaders.
The Foundation evolved out of the Ghana Regional Appropriate Technology Industrial Service (GRATIS) Project, was established by the Government of Ghana in 1987 and mandated to promote small-scale industrialization in Ghana.
The Ghana Regional Appropriate Technology Industrial Service Foundation aims to become a leading technology development and skills transfer organization in Africa. Its mission is to develop, promote, and disseminate marketable technologies and skills to support the growth of industry, particularly micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
Members of the Newly Inaugurated Board includes
- Dr. Isaac Adaebsah – Chief Executive Officer of GRATIS Foundation
- Nana Akosua Amobea II – Offuman Hemaa (Traditional Leader)
- Moses Okrah – Traditional Leader (Akyeamehene of Tanoboase) from Buoyem
- Ernest Ameyaw – Teacher and IT Professional from Tuobodom
- Patience Darkowaa – Educator from Offuman
The Chief Executive Officer of GRATIS Foundation, Dr. Isaac Adeabsah, expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated Board would bring their diverse experiences to bear on the task ahead in order to meet the government’s expectations.
He further noted that the new Board brings a wealth of expertise and vision to help steer the GRATIS Foundation toward greater innovation, impact, and growth in Ghana’s industrial and agribusiness sectors.
