Hon Gyekye Quayson voting in the upcoming By-election at Assin North is a National Assignment – CLDG

Executive Director for Center For Leadership and Democratic Governance (CLDG) Mr. Apatsea Isaac Kwasi has waged into the legal brouhaha concerning the Hon Gyekye Quayson.
He has suggested that it is the right of every Ghanaian who has attained the age of eighteen (18)to vote in an election organised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana hence the Attorney General and the minister of state claiming that Hon Gyekye Quayson’s active participation in the upcoming by-election at Assin North does not constitute a National Assignment in not in order and a denial of the right of Hon Gyekye Quayson Freedom under the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana. Article 42 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana state: Every citizen of Ghana of eighteen years of age or above and of sound mind has the right to vote and is entitled to be registered as a voter.

That Hon Gyekye Quayson has duly renounced his Canadian citizenship per decuments available and hence enjoys every fundamental rights granted to every citizen of Ghana in the 1992 Constitution.

Mr. Apatsea Isaac Kwasi again is appealing to the legal team of Hon Gyekye Quayson to stand firm and defend him till justice is served him.

CLDG again is appealing to Ghana as a state not to deny its Human resources who have had the opportunity to serve in the western world and have willingly travelled back to Ghana to participate in our democracy. A country who has been preaching dual citizenship for over fifteen(15) years must not be in a dilemma currently.
