How a businessman was duped right inside the Jubilee House

A Kumasi-based businessman has recounted how one Nana Fredua Agyemang of the Confiscated Assets Committee operating at the Tema Harbour duped him of GH¢ 20,000 right inside the Jubilee House, MyNewsGh.com reports.

He says the said Fredua, who claimed to be one of the aides of the Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo promised to retrieve his imported goods that had been confiscated and auctioned to his boss.

The businessman told this portal that he had imported some industrial alcohol into the country in 2018 but was unable to clear the consignment and it was consequently demurred.

“The customs officials later told me that they had auctioned the containers to Nana Asante Bediatuo so I should go and plead with him to release them to me; they recommended Nana Fredua as a close associate of Nana Asante Bediatuo so I should let him lead me to him”, Mr Kwabena Boateng said.

He said Nana Fredua took him to the Jubilee House, took the GH¢20, 000 and asked him to wait downstairs as he climbed upstairs “to deliver the money to Nana Asante before they could go and meet him”.

“He came back and told me he had delivered the cash to his boss but he demanded to meet me at a later time because he was very busy at the moment; and that is the last I saw and heard from him”, he indicated.

But the President’s Executive Secretary has denied knowledge of any such matter and the scammer, Nana Fredua Agyemang as he purported to be.

“I don’t know him. Do you have any way to getting to him? Is there anyone willing to make a complaint to me so we get him arrested? He responded to this portal in a text message when he was contacted.

Fraudsters and scammers are gaining notoriety for duping people using the names and photographs of “big men” in recent times with some using images of these persons.
