Ghanaian actress Fella Makafui has opened up about her initial decline of playing the role of Serwaa in the famous ‘YOLO’ series.
Speaking on The Afternoon Show, on Thursday, May 2, at TV3, the entrepreneur and actress disclosed that after auditioning for a role in YOLO, she declined to act as Serwaa when director Ivan Quashigah offered her the role.
According to Fella, during the auditions, she had set her eyes on the role played by Emily as the girlfriend of Cyril in the YOLO series and wanted to act as Emily in the series.
She stressed that even before her debut acting in the YOLO series, she was a bread seller for her mother and did not want to repeat same in her role as Serwaa in YOLO series.

“I actually declined taking the role, Serwaa, I told him [Ivan Quashigah] that I won’t do YOLO. Even with the auditions, I told him I won’t do it because I believed so much in myself that back then I did not know that, as an actor, I had to go through that process.
“When we were doing the auditions, I was catching one role – I wanted to play the role of Emily but I was told to act as Serwaa and I didn’t want because I was selling bread for my mother even before coming to Accra, so why would I be doing the same in movie,” she said on TV3’s The Afternoon Show.
Fella is currently promoting her debut movie titled ‘Resonance’ which will be premiered on May 11 at the Accra Mall and Silverbird Cinemas.
Tickets for the movie premiere goes for GHC100 and available at the cinemas.
