I’m a more experienced politician than Bawumia – Kwakye Ofosu

A former Deputy Minister of Communications is not surprised about the recent jabs launched at former President John Mahama by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu says given the conduct of the second gentleman of the land, it is obvious the office has overwhelmed him.

“Bawumia is a relative novice in politics; he is older than me but I have been in politics longer than him,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Wednesday.

The former Deputy Communications Minister said he made a mark in politics with the group Setting the Records Straight when Dr Bawumia was still at the Bank of Governor.

Even when the Vice President was appointed as running mate in 2008, Mr Ofosu said he failed to make any meaningful contribution to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign leading to their defeat.

Based on this, the NDC man said Dr Bawumia has no moral right to taunt former President Mahama who is an astute politician.

He maintained that, the claim that Mr Mahama has no legacy, especially in the Northern region is a blatant lie and very unbecoming of a Vice President.

“You are subject to criticism when you don’t attach any seriousness to your office. Dr Bawumia must stop being a jocular,” he added.

Mr Ofosu said the NPP cannot shield Dr Bawumia from scrutiny when he makes statements which are factually incorrect.
