Information Minister Speaks on “Lockdown” Rumor

The Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that the government is not thinking about any possible lockdown for the second time despite the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in the country.

This comes in response to the rumor of another lockdown. According to the Minister, the government is not considering lockdown now.

“Rumors that Akuffo Addo government is considering a second lockdown because of the increase in the confirmed COVID-19 cases are false“, Oppong Nkrumah said.

On the 29th March 2020, the President announced a partial lockdown in some parts of the country. The affected areas were Greater Accra, Tema, Kasoa, and Greater Kumasi which started on 31st March 2020.

Movements in the above-mentioned areas were restricted in the bid to trace and test suspected persons.

This Lockdown was ease three weeks later.
