Inject some sense into those Chorkor folks before situations get out of hand – Ghanaians tell Akufo-Addo

Some Ghanaians on social media have asked President Akufo-Addo to call the residents of Chorkor to order by injecting some sense into their head before the situation gets out of hand.

Social media went agog after Ghanaweb.com reported how residents of Chorkor a suburb of Accra ignored the President’s lockdown directives, to chill at the beach on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020.

Hundreds of people who reside at the popular coastal area were out in their numbers in the afternoon to cool it off by swimming in the sea, unperturbed by the growing cases of Coronavirus in Ghana.

While the elderly fisher folks were busy mending their nets, a number of people; children and the youth mostly, were busy making merry and celebrating to mark the Easter festivities.

Hours after GhanaWeb broke the news, personnel from the military stormed the community beach in their numbers and sacked the people who were breaking the law.

However, Ghanaians who took to social media to express their disgust believe President Akufo-Addo’s government must do more to ensure that people comply to the lockdown directives.

Whiles others called for punitive measures to be meted out to those who go contrary to the rules, another school of thought opined that there must be more education in different languages to ensure that everyone is educated and informed about the situation.

And people are giving excuses like the Chorkor people and the other locals blatantly flouting the laws don’t understand the issues at hand cos Nana Addo speaks in English.
So how come they understand that water and electricity are free for 3 months???

I went to Chorkor this morning, most of the military men are stationed on the street, all main roads leading to the beaches have 1 soldier man there, Will move to the beach around 5pm and see if there’s any developments. This should continue till the lockdown is over or else….

After all the numerous public awareness created about the virus, Ghanaians, #Chorkor, still went ahead and did this. We are our own enemies and should never blame @NAkufoAddo when the number keeps on increasing. This is not the time to prove a point. Grow up people.
