ISWAP kills 3 Civilian JTF, 13 others, abducts three humanitarian workers in Borno

Report indicates that about 16 people, including three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have been killed in multiple attacks coordinated by suspected members of the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.

In a publication sighted on Daily Trust, ISWAP fighters shot dead 13 metal scavengers in Goni Kurmi village in Bama Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, June 18.

It was gathered that the victims of the attack include 11 males and 2 females.

A security intelligence who spoke to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad said the fighters arrived in a four utility vehicles and others on motorcycles.

According to him, ISWAP members surrounded the area and killed the people, also murdered three members of the CJTF and abducted humanitarian workers in Monguno Local Government Area on Friday night, June 17.

“They proceeded to a compound of the State Emergency Management Agency(SEMA), and took one Hilux vehicle before proceeding to attack and killed three members of Civilian Joint Task Force and burnt their vehicle. One other member was shot on his leg.” a source said.

Although the Nigerian Army is yet to issue any statement on the latest ISWAP attack.
