The Islamic Youth Council Unit of IYNUNSCR2250 proudly commissioned its inaugural set of ECOWAS executives at the National Mosque in Accra, Ghana, on February 20, 2025.
This momentous occasion signifies a major milestone in the organization’s mission to mobilize youth, women, and children from diverse backgrounds, fostering a culture of peace and understanding.
The Global Board Chair and President, H.E. Gibril Ahidjo, and H.E. Rev. Dr. Lilian Sally Addo, emphasized the importance of inclusivity, highlighting that the Chaplaincy unit’s efforts should extend beyond a single faith, embracing youths from all walks of life, particularly those in underserved communities.
“Having people of their kind to frontline counseling sessions can expedite and convert them to understand the peace agenda,” they stressed.
The Islamic Youth Council, operating under the Chaplaincy and Missions Unit, is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth of Muslim youth and promoting interfaith dialogue. Under the visionary leadership of the Global Director of Chaplaincy/Missions, H.E. Rev. Raymond Wealth-Annang, the council is highly set to make a profound impact globally.
The commissioning ceremony was graced by the Global Head Patron and President, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, and H.E. Dr. Lilian Sally Addo, with the Chief Imam of Ghana serving as the special guest of honor.
The newly appointed executives, comprising esteemed leaders and scholars, are tasked with spearheading the organization’s initiatives across the ECOWAS region.
The ECOWAS executives include prominent figures such as His Royal Eminence Amb Nana Sultan Adamu Mohammed, who serves as the ECOWAS Head, alongside His Royal Highness Dr. Abdul Razak Toure as the 1st Deputy ECOWAS Head, and Chief Sulemana Mandy as the ECOWAS Organizer. Other key executives include Chief Ahmed Aninyie Salim, Director of Programs – ECOWAS; HRH Chief Salifu Attram, ECOWAS Patron; HRH Amb Chief Musah Ahmed, Ghana Chairman; Chief Abdul Karim Dawda Chika Mayei I, 1st Vice Chairman; Hon Amb Halima Zubairu Danbatta, Director of Finance – ECOWAS; Farouk Ibrahim, Greater Accra Regional Chairman; Chief Mutawakil Halid, Greater Accra Regional Vice Chair; Mugis Yahaya, Greater Accra Director of Administration; Dr. Issahak Tuntumba Boree Essa II, Central Regional Chairman; HRH Aliu Mohammed Zaki III, Central Regional Vice Chairman; Dr. Abass Shamsudeen Ibrahim, Ashanti Regional Chairman; Musah Yahaya, Esq., Oti Regional Chairman; Hon Fatima Aminu Dahiru, Director of Administration – ECOWAS; Firdaus Rasheed Yusuf, Director of Communication – ECOWAS; and Dompia Hene Alhaji Nana, Eastern Regional Chairman.
