The Former Sports Minister of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon.Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has indicated that the flabearer of the opposition party NDC John Dramani Mahama will win the 2024 General elections.
According to him, the economic crisis and the untold hardships that Ghanaians are experiencing under the leadership of Akufo-Addo/ Dr Bawumia led administration gives credence that John Mahama is the obvious choice to be elected again as the president of Ghana come 2024.
He stated that, John Dramani Mahama’s comeback in 2024 is undoubtedly a mission to rescue the country from its current social, economic, and political challenges.
“John Mahama as a visionary nation builder with an impressive track record across all facets of Ghana’s development during his previous presidency, he possesses the necessary qualities to navigate the country out of its current predicament and propel it to new heights” he said
Hon. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, the Former Director of Elections of the NDC and presently a Martin Delaney Distinguished Fellow (MDDF) at the Centre for Global Africa, hosted by Delaware State University, USA made these remarks at the Annual Dunenyo Festival of the people of Dodome Dogblome in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, where he was invited as the special guest of honour for the occasion.
Addressing the gathering at the festival under the the theme, “United We Stand,” Mr Ankrah urged community members to concentrate on their common agenda and programs to pursue and achieve their stated objectives. Recognizing inevitable differences among individuals, he emphasized the importance of focusing on a shared objective or target, encouraging unity of purpose to temporarily overcome differences and attain collective goals.
Sharing his insights on the upcoming 2024 elections, Mr Afriyie-Ankrah highlighted the current dire economic situation that has crippled the country’s economic well-being making living conditions difficult for Ghanaians.
He noted that the NPP, along with its apologists and media surrogates, have attempted false equalization by claiming that “THE NPP AND THE NDC ARE THE SAME.” In fiercely response, he passionately asserted that the NDC and the NPP are fundamentally different entities.
He explained that the NDC is a Social Democratic Party genuinely concerned about the ordinary people of the country, as evidenced by its human-centred policies and extensive infrastructural projects implemented nationwide, particularly during the tenure of H.E John Dramani Mahama. In contrast, he depicted the NPP’s ideology as rooted in property-owning democracy and elitism, asserting that, while in power, they use state resources for personal gain and impose burdensome taxes on the populace.
He admonished the community members and urged Ghanaians to vote wisely based on their current living conditions in the forthcoming 2024 elections. As a gesture of support, he donated undisclosed amount of money to the community for their borehole and public toilet project.
