JUST IN: Four dead and six injured in fatal accident

A fatal collision between a car and a bakkie on the R301 in Franschhoek in the Western Cape left four people dead and further six people injured, according to reports from ER24.

Life Healthcare and Stellenbosch Fire Services were the first to arrive on the scene, quickly followed by ER24 paramedics where they found a bakkie and light motor vehicle in the middle of the road. Upon closer investigation medics found three men and a woman who had sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The four individuals were declared dead shortly after.

 

The six other individuals involved in the incident were tended to on the scene. They sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical, according to ER24. Those who needed immediate medical attention were quickly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent care.

The cause of the accident has not been determined yet. Local authorities were on scene to conduct further investigations.
