Kenya airport workers return bag containing $19K to British tourist

A Kenyan police officer and two airport workers have been commended after they returned a bag that contained around $19,000 (£17,000) and other items that belonged to a British tourist. According to BBC, the tourist, identified as Benson Nickolson, misplaced the bag at the Wilson Airport in the East African nation’s capital city of Nairobi.

Nickolson was said to have lost the bag after he and other individuals embarked on a safari at the Maasai Mara game reserve. The bag was found by a police officer and airport employees, and Nickolson was contacted after it was screened for explosives.

“All the money totalling to around $19,000 and some thousands of Kenya shillings were all intact. All my cards were found intact. All other valuables which included a regalia given to me by my late grandmother was also intact. It was a daydream for me,” Nickolson said in an email expressing appreciation to Kenyan police.

Nickolson also said that the cash in his possession was meant for enabling the comfort and movement of his group. In an interview with Citizen TV, the security supervisor at the airport, Joseph Kabang, said that “integrity is a core value” that its employees maintain.
