Recently, the flagbearer of LPG, Kofi Akpaloo, appeared on Hitz FM’s Cruise Control and revealed his top five favorite Ghanaian musicians.
His list is a blend of gospel, highlife, and contemporary music icons, featuring gospel artist Uncle Ato, highlife legends Daddy Lumba and Amakye Dede, Afro-fusion star Stonebwoy, and the dynamic dancehall king Shatta Wale.
Speaking about his reasons, Akpaloo had strong words of praise for Shatta Wale, saying that most Ghanaians have failed to understand Shatta Wale’s line of action with regard to the music industry, simply misunderstanding his actions.
He exerted that Shatta Wale is a musician who understands the dynamics of the music industry, and this was where people often got it wrong about him.
Kofi Akpaloo went further to hail Shatta Wale, elaborating how the artiste skilfully uses controversy as a tool to keep the industry and his brand alive.
Akpaloo said Shatta Wale’s ability to stir up conversations, keeping relevance, was because he understands how the music business works right from his gut.

He said people have issues with Shatta Wale because they cannot understand that he does things strategically, Wale likely plays the game to the letter.
Akpaloo’s comments have reignited debate on the value of controversy as a means to define the careers of artists, with many revisiting the impact Shatta Wale has had on the music industry in Ghana.
