Lead Convenor of #FixTheCountry Campaign arrested

Mawuse Oliver Barker-Vormawor, one of the lead convenors of #FixTheCountry campaign has been arrested by the East Legon Police for breaking road traffic regulations as he drove in Accra.

The police picked up Mr Barker-Vormawor after he allegedly failed to observe road marking while driving.

Mr Barker-Vormawor’s arrest will likely negatively impact preparations for #FixTheCountry demonstrations scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

He had been making several media appearances and galvanizing support for tomorrow’s campaign.

Announcing his arrest in a post shared on his social media platforms Mawuse Oliver Barker-Vormawor said “I have been arrested by the East Legon Police Station. 1 hour nowOffence: Refusal to pay bribe for apparently “failing to observe road markings”. #TheySayIwillSleepHereForTwoDays“.
