LifeNet International Enhances Maternal Healthcare in Ghana’s North East Region

LifeNet International, a Christian non-governmental organization committed to transforming healthcare across Africa, has significantly enhanced the capacity of the Our Lady of Rocio Catholic Health Centre in Walewale, North-East Region, through the provision of essential hospital beds.
The provision of these beds directly addresses a critical need within the newly commissioned maternity unit of the hospital’s New Theatre Block which has been vacant since it’s construction in March this year. This strategic intervention will enable Our Lady of Rocio Health Center to fully operationalize its expanded maternity services.
During the formal handover,. Idris Buabeng, Country Director for LifeNet International, underscored the organization’s dedication to providing tangible resources that directly impact patient care. He emphasized that a hospital bed represents more than just a piece of furniture where patients sleep, but the beds serve as a place of healing, comfort, and hope of surviving from their sickness.” stated Mr. Buabeng.
The Facility Manager, Rev. Sister Mary Asamoah, warmly welcomed the donation, highlighting its profound impact on patient care. She stated, “Our Lady of Rocio Catholic Health Centre appreciates the partnership of LifeNet International, which began just a year ago but has had a tremendous impact on both staff and management.” Rev. Sister Asamoah pledged that the donated beds would be utilized effectively and properly maintained to ensure their longevity, adding, “These new beds are a new beginning for our maternity ward, as there were no beds in the new maternity unit for clients to use, and they will significantly improve our ability to provide adequate care for patients.”
This contribution aligns with LifeNet International’s established model of providing critical equipment and support to its network of partner health facilities. Operating across Africa, the organization currently collaborates with over 400 healthcare facilities, including 55 faith-based organizations in Ghana. Through these partnerships, LifeNet International aims to strengthen healthcare systems and improve health outcomes for underserved communities by facilitating access to quality and compassionate care. This donation to Our Lady of Rocio Catholic Health Centre serves as a concrete example of their ongoing commitment to this mission.
