Macron slap: Don’t dare try it with Buhari – Nigerians mock

On Tuesday June 8, social media was awash with a viral video of a man slapping France President Emmanuel Macron in the face whiles the president was on a tour in the southern province of Valence.

The culprit slapped Macron on the cheeks as he greeted a cheering crowd and tried to reach out to the man who reports say shouted: “A Bas La Macronie” which means “Down with Macronia.”

For a section of Nigerians reacting to the incident, they wondered what will become of such a person if he tried same with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Nigerians are reacting across social media platforms including Twitter, despite a government ban on the microblogging website which came into effect on June 4.

Dele Momodu, one-time presidential aspirant and CEO of Ovation Magazine reacted to the video via Twitter by posting the assault video with a caption: “Someone slapped the French President Emmanuel Macron? If you try it with Muhammadu Buhari, in fact, you will die, resurrect, die, multiple times.

Omoyele Sowore, journalist and founder of the critical Sahara Reporters news portal also posted the video on Facebook with a caption: “President Macron given a hot slap! If France was Nigeria, the entire Southern France would be burnt down by the Nigerian Army!”
