Mad’ police guard shoots resident at Boakye Agyarko’s house

A policeman on guard duties at the home of former Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko is reported to have shot and injured one person on Sunday.

Lance Corporal Peter Hammond Arkosah of National Protection Unit was detailed at Hon. Boakye Agyarko’s residence at Ashongman Estate on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at about 3pm but suddenly started behaving abnormally.

The house boy who was with the Lance Corporal rushed out and informed Samuel Arhin, a neighbour who entered the house with the view to assist.

However, he met the Lance Corporal brandishing his fully loaded AK 47 rifle and feeling his life was under threat, turned to run but the officer fired five shots at him.

The victim was hit at the back but managed to escape from the scene. He was rushed to the community hospital but was referred to Korle-bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

A police patrol team was immediately called and proceeded to the scene, disarmed the Lance Corporal and took him to the station. The victim is said to be in a stable condition as an x-ray result of him shows that no bullet has lodged in the body nor any internal organ affected.

Meanwhile, service rifle Number AE 405199 plus three rounds of ammunition as well as five spent shells are retained.

The embattled Lance Corporal was handed over to his unit commander and has since been taken to a psychiatric hospital for treatment.
