Mahama right to call for investigations into Mills’ death – Pius Hadzide

Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide says the call by lawyers of former President John Dramani Mahama on the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate the allegation about his knowledge of the death of former President John Evans Atta-Mills is in the right direction.

According to him, the death of every Ghanaian should be a matter of concern for all especially that of a sitting President.

Speaking on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ Morning Show, Pius Enam Hadzide indicated that the unknown cause of death of ex-President Atta Mills is an indictment on the country as it means the country is only interested in electing Presidents and shows no concern for their lives.

“I feel it will be an indictment on all of us as a country if we are not able to tell the cause of the sitting President’s death . . . we don’t take their protection serious,” he indicated.

According to him, the action of the lawyers of former President Mahama to write to the Police CID about the uterrances of NPP’s Bono regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe means that the former President even agrees to the call by many Ghanaians that there should be investigations into the cause of death of the late President Atta-Mills.

“I cannot say that the investigations into the cause of death of former President Atta Mills is not necessary; I feel it is important that even if it was a mistake or wrong measures that were in place at that time, we can learn something from it as a country so that we don’t repeat similar mistakes in terms of measures in protecting sitting Presidents,” he indicated.

Pius Enam Hadzide, however, thinks the call for investigations into the death of former President Atta Mills is a good course.
