The victims include a nine-year-old girl and a 60-year-old woman.
Information gathered by EIB Network’s Central Regional Correspondent Yaw Boagyan revealed that the man is mentally impaired and had been caged in a room for some time now only for him to escape Monday morning and attack the two people.
Information also revealed that an eight-month-old pregnant Woman who was nearly attacked by the suspect was rescued by some residents.
He nearly chopped off the neck of the nine-year-old girl and the hand of the 60-year-old woman.
It took several minutes before the residents overpowered him and took the Cutlass from him. The angry residents nearly lynched the suspect but he was rushed to the Apam Police Station.
The nine-year-old girl who is in critical condition was sent to the Apam Government Hospital and later rushed to Winneba Special and Trauma Hospital for treatment whiles the 60-year-old woman is also receiving treatment at the Apam Government Hospital.
The police confirmed the incident adding that they will send the Suspect to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital for examination to ascertain whether he is indeed a mentally impaired person.
