A 20-year old man met his untimely death when his debtor who allegedly owes him GHc 50 shot him dead.
Elijah Nankwase’s alleged killer owed him GHc 100 but paid GHc 50 out of the debt. When he demanded a refund of the remaining amount, Kwabena Naaba allegedly took offense.
The incident happened at Zambrama, a suburb of Prang in the Pru West District of the Bono Region.
The victim’s brother, Joseph Diplaba, told Asaase News that his brother lived in another village but visited home over the weekend.
“He came home to visit the family. The young man who killed him owed him GHc 100. He paid GHc 50 but refused to pay the rest. When my brother returned to the village he went to ask for the money.
“But the guy refused to pay. It degenerated into a misunderstanding,” he said.
Angered by the confrontation, Naaba allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Joseph in the head.
Mr. Diplaba said the two had no history of acrimony, which could have led to the harbouring of ill-feeling.
The District Chief Executive for the area, Stephen Jalila, confirmed the incident.
“I know somebody lost his life through a gunshot and the suspect was nearly lynched,” he said
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the St Mathias Hospital in Yeji.
