ICU warns employees not to let politicians influence them on May Day. The hospital administration stresses the importance of remaining neutral and focused on patient care. They remind staff to prioritize professionalism.

The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) has cautioned workers against allowing themselves to be influenced by politicians to foment trouble and instability ahead of the December 7 elections.

To mark this year’s May Day celebrations, the General Secretary of the ICU, Morgan Ayawine indicated any instability could mar the credibility of Ghana’s democracy.

Speaking exclusively with 3news’ Daniel Opoku on April 30, 2024, he emphasised that, “the youth should also resist any attempt by politicians to deploy them to create confusion before, during and after the upcoming elections.”

The ICU, in marking the May Day is also joining the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to call for peace in this year’s elections.

The theme for this year’s May celebration is “Election 2024- The Role of Workers and Social Partners in securing peaceful elections for national development.”

The ICU in commemorating the day lauded the immeasurable role of workers in improving the work environment and also partnering with employers to spearhead and foster the growth and sustainability of business.
