MIMII Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan have made history as the first all-black couple to win Love Island. Fans all over the world jubilate as Mimii and Josh make history as the first black couple to win Love Island UK
About forty percent of readers believed in the couple’s victory, but runners-up Ciaran and Nicole were the favourites to win before the finale aired.
Jaws dropped around the Majorca villa when Maya Jama announced Mimii and Josh had won after being coupled up for just two weeks.
Mimii, 24, admitted her surprise and told Maya: “I wasn’t expecting this” and said that she felt “over stimulated, overwhelmed, grateful”.
The loved-up pair celebrated winning the £50k prize pot with a big kiss before mental health nurse Mimii broke down in tears.
And there wasn’t a dry eye on social media tonight as fans shared their views on the likeable duo’s win.
One viewer celebrated on X: “I promise I’m not crying, congratulations Mimii and Josh!!!! Yaay to black love!!!”
Another raved: “Guys!!! Mimii and Josh won! I’m not crying! First black couple to win love island UK!”
A third said: “I’m actually crying, Mimii won my heart shem.”
The pair beat the villa favourites Ciaran Davies, 21, and Nicole Samuel, 24, and also triumphed over finalists Sean Stone and Matilda Draper, who came in third place, and Ayo Odukoya and Jess Spencer, who placed fourth.
Josh said he had tunnel vision for Mimii when he entered the villa two weeks ago, telling Maya during their exit interview: “I told her when I met her, she surprised me, everything I expected her to be, she was and more.
“So I didn’t need to make other connections.”
But many Love Island viewers believed Mimii carried the pair and was the real winner of the show.
The hugely popular Islander coupled up with Josh after he arrived as a late bombshell and swept her off her feet.
Before that, Mimii was locked in an unrequited love triangle with original boy Ayo.
She only had eyes for the semi-pro footballer, and she stayed faithful to him whilst he pursued other connections in Casa Amor.
When he returned from the second villa with newcomer Jess, Mimii was still hopeful she could rekindle with Ayo.
She used the game Snog, Marry, Pie to “shoot her shot” and snogged Ayo in front of Josh.
That night viewers saw plotting with Joey Essex to bring Ayo to the terrace for a final chat.
She delivered the most iconic moment of the series by crawling on the terrace so as not to be spotted by her co-stars.
But Ayo refused to meet her and Joey eventually spilled Mimii’s secret to the rest of the villa, calling it a “secret mission” and prompting plenty of rows.
Mimii then continued her journey with Josh – who has worked as Paul Pogba’s body double – and the couple became exclusive in the final week of the show.
The series closer comes a day after Joey and Jessy Potts missed out on a place in the final.
They were given the chop in a brutal twist that saw dumped Islanders entering the villa for one final vote to send home a couple before the finale.
