Mother, son arrested after cops exhume body of ‘missing man’

A 57-year-old woman and her son were arrested near Middelburg in Mpumalanga after they were linked to the murder of a man reported missing last month.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said Trueman Nkabinde was reported missing on 26 February. His car, a red Kia Picanto, was traced and found in Hammanskraal in Pretoria.

The woman was arrested in Mhluzi.

Mohlala said:

The woman admitted that she initially tried to misdirect the investigation by reporting that her son, as well as Nkabinde were missing.

Mohlala said the woman’s 32-year-old son was arrested in Dennilton in Limpopo on Wednesday.

“His arrest also led to the victim’s body being exhumed today (on Thursday) in Mhluzi.”

Mohlala said the motive for the murder was unknown.

The two were expected to appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday on murder, perjury and defeating the ends of justice charges.
