Twimeahene of the Techiman Traditional Area and Sanaahene of the Techiman Traditional Council, Nana Ankama Frimpong, has urged the newly appointed Mayor of Techiman South, Hon. Kwaku Adjei-Mensah, to continue with developmental projects initiated by the previous administration.
Nana Ankama Frimpong called on the Mayor to refrain from non-partisan approach to governance and work closely with the Techiman Traditional Council in fulfilling his mandate.
According to him, governance is a continuous process, and as such, Hon. Kwaku Adjei-Mensah should ensure the continuation of projects started by the previous government to promote the development of Techiman.
“Every political party wishes to remain in power for a long time. Therefore, I urge NDC members to rally behind the Mayor and support him to successfully develop the metropolis. If we do so, the people of Techiman will be in a better position to decide whether to vote for the party again or not.
“Governance is a continuous process. All development projects initiated by the previous NPP government must be continued by the current NDC administration. I urge the Mayor to make it a top priority to continue those projects.
“I understand that the NDC also has new projects they would like to initiate in Techiman, but I appeal to the Mayor not to focus solely on NDC-initiated projects. He should also ensure the completion of projects started by the NPP, including the town roads and the urban park.” He said.
He also made a passionate appeal to the Techiman Traditional Council to rally behind the newly appointed Mayor of the Techiman South Municipality, Hon. Kwaku Adjei-Mensah.
Nana Ankama Frimpong disclosed that traditional leaders play a vital role in the effective governance and development of the area. He explained that no political leader can succeed in Techiman without the support and cooperation of the Traditional Council, which is the custodian of the land and culture, hence his appeal for collaboration.
“I would also like to use this opportunity to plead with the Techiman Traditional Council to support the Mayor. Techiman belongs to Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV and his Traditional Council. No politician can succeed in Techiman without the support of the Traditional Council. So, it is my humble appeal that we, the traditional leaders in Techiman, give our full support to Hon. Kwaku Adjei-Mensah during his tenure as Mayor of the metropolis.” He said.
