Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul has assured Ghanaians that opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) elements who may be harbouring plans to plunge the country into chaos will be dealt with ruthlessly, adding that they are no match for him given that he manages people armed with bombs and other weapons.
He made this known at a National Youth Conference at the University for Development Studies, Tamale, recently, stressing that persons saying that they are coming after him should be warned accordingly.
“If I don’t speak about security some people will not understand. Ordinarily, I would not do this because of where I occupy. I control people who move with bombs; Guns. All the big bazookas. So when the NDC say they are going after Nitiwul I laugh. If I can control those people than you, NDC?” he wondered.
Mr Nitiwul revealed that there were persons who have manufactured grenades in order to destabilize the country, warning that they were being monitored, and are being dealt with accordingly.
“You decide to go and make an IED. That IED can kill within a radius of between 30 and 50 meters. So wherever you are sitting, measure 30 to 50 metres to your right, to your left, to your side here and side here. And when they drop that IED all the people around that side will die. What are you going to with that IED?…and they say we shouldn’t talk?
Think about it. You are a Ghanaian, you are manufacturing about 20 IEDs. IEDs improvise explosive device. Because you cannot buy a bomb, then you improvised a device for yourself. When you drop that IED all the people around that place they are capable of dying with just one IED. And this man-manufactured 20 IEDs,” he revealed to the audience.
His comments seem to be a condemnation of the alleged coup plot masterminded by Dr MacPalm Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Citadel Hospital at Alajo who is in court with several others who are currently facing prosecution.
