NDC Parliamentary candidate survives assassination attempt

An alleged assassination has been mounted on the Parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya -East Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, Madam Phyllis Koryoo Okunor.

Madam Okunor was said to have been on her way home when she noticed a car was running towards her from the opposite direction. She sensed danger and veered off her lane when she realized the car approached her.

Madam Okunor was driving alone at the time of the incident. However, there were two motor riders who are members of her team.

After the suspects missed her, they rammed into her team members on motorbike, injuring two in the process.

Madam Okunor during an emergency press conference alleged that the attack is coming from her opponent.

The matter was reported to the Kasoa Police Command but the victims who sustained various degrees of injuries have been sent to the hospital to receive medical treatment.

Reacting to the reports, New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Mrs. Hawa Koomson, admitted she was holding a campaign, but denied ever being behind the near-death accident.

She admitted having a smooth campaign with her male opponent but she seems to be having issues with her female opponent since she is constantly accusing her, Hon. Hawa Koomson of violence.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Michael Yaw Essuman Mensah, however, assured that the Municipality was on top of issues and would deal with individuals who try to foment trouble.

He assured the general public that he will do all he could to make sure that peace prevails in Kaosa before, during, and after the elections.
