Sammy Gyamfi says, they would be executed within its first 90 days in office to alleviate hardships and ease the high cost of doing business in the country.
He made the pledge as the party unveiled its taxation promises in the 2024 manifesto in Winneba last Saturday.
Review
Mr Gyamfi said the NDC would also review import duty on industrial and agricultural vehicles and equipment, apply the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy on fuel to cushion consumers and rationalise charges at the ports to reduce burdens on importers and Ghanaians.
Beyond that, he said the party would reform Ghana’s VAT regime to provide relief for households and businesses. This includes reversing the decoupling of GETFund and NHIL from VAT, adjusting the VAT registration threshold to exempt micro and small businesses and repealing VAT on domestic electricity consumption.
“The NDC also plans to enhance revenue mobilisation by broadening the tax base, plugging leakages in tax collections and reviewing the tax exemption regime to promote transparency, economic growth, technology transfer and job creation,” he said.
Mr Gyamfi said the NDC was committed to creating a tax-friendly environment that supports economic growth and alleviates hardships for Ghanaians.
Vote NDC
He encouraged voters to vote decisively for the NDC, promising transformation and job creation.
Mr Gyamfi urged careful consideration of the messages and platforms of all political parties and their leaders to make an informed decision on December 7.
“We cannot afford to waste this opportunity. It is incumbent upon us to make a change, consider the message of the various political parties and personalities contesting this year’s election.
Which of the political parties has the right policies and programmes that can bring about the reset and the change, the transformation, jobs and the opportunities we all seek,” he said.
“This is why we in the NDC have congregated here in the town of Simpa, popularly known as Winneba to launch the manifesto of the National Democratic Congress anchored on a vision of our flag bearer and leader, John Dramani Mahama.”
“Ladies and gentlemen by the time we are done, I know that you will be convinced that indeed, the NDC, is the right political party with a solid platform and all of us, irrespective of our backgrounds, and can stand up and build a Ghana we want together,” he added.
