Nana Kwasi Twi Brempong II, the Chief of Mesidan and a member of the Governing Board of the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, has urged the residents of Mesidan to turn out in large numbers for the grand finale of the 2026 Appor Festival, scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2026.
While speaking to the community during the Mesidan Appor observation events, he expressed his delight at the impressive turnout and active involvement shown so far. He described the strong participation as clear evidence of the people’s dedication to safeguarding their cultural heritage for generations to come.
“I am very pleased with the way and manner in which the people of Mesidan have embraced and participated in this year’s Appor Festival. Their participation has proven that they truly value our culture and are determined to preserve it for future generations,” he stated.
Nana Kwasi Twi Brempong II noted that the Appor Festival offers a vital platform for the people of Techiman to openly discuss matters hindering progress in the area and to honour those making positive contributions toward development.
“The festival provides the opportunity for us, the citizens of Techiman, to express our grievances to chiefs, elders, leaders and individuals whose actions or inactions undermine development, while also commending those who are making meaningful contributions,” he explained.
He added that the events witnessed during the celebrations truly captured the spirit of the festival, as locals and residents employed music to promote social responsibility and accountability.
“What you witnessed here today were indigenes and residents of Techiman using songs to constructively criticize leaders within the community, while at the same time commending those who deserve recognition,” the chief remarked.
Highlighting the importance of the final day, Nana Kwasi Twi Brempong II explained the unique responsibility placed on the people of Mesidan and the Mesidan Traditional Council. According to tradition, they are expected to lead the Paramount Chief of Techiman, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, in a colourful procession accompanied by drumming and singing. The procession will move from the palace through the main streets of Techiman.
In light of this, he made a passionate appeal to all residents to come out in full force on Friday to ensure the climax of the festival becomes a grand and unforgettable occasion.
“I appeal to the people of Mesidan to once again come out in their numbers on Friday to help make the climax of the 2026 Appor Festival a success and a memorable one,” he appealed.
The Appor Festival continues to stand as one of the most important cultural celebrations in Techiman, fostering unity, encouraging accountability, and helping to keep valuable traditions alive.
