NIA implements new fees for Ghana Card services at premium centres

According to a notice posted on the NIA’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the charges for services such as first-time registration, card replacement, and record updates have been revised.

The notice clarified that these fees apply only at specific registration centres.

The updated fees are as follows:

• First-time registration: GH¢310.00

• Record updates: GH¢310.00

• Card replacement: GH¢420.00

• Simultaneous record updates and card replacement: GH¢355.00

• Nationality updates: GH¢365.00

The NIA emphasised that first-time issuance of the Ghana Card remains free for all applicants. However, individuals who choose to visit designated premium registration centres will be required to pay the applicable fees.

Additionally, the authority noted that card replacements at district offices across the country will cost GH¢125.00, while first-time issuance at these offices remains free.

The Ghana Card serves as proof of identity, citizenship, and residency, incorporating biometric data for secure authentication for Ghanaians.

Since May 2024, the fees for designated registration centres have been in effect. The NIA reported that over 18 million Ghanaians have been registered so far. In 2024, the authority extended Ghana Card issuance to Ghanaians living abroad to ensure inclusivity.
