Nigeria police confiscate 7,000 donkey penises being exported to China

Nigeria’s customs service have intercepted 7,000 donkey penises at an airport in the commercial hub, Lagos, headed to Hong Kong.

In a BBC report, the customs controller at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Sambo Dangaladima, disclosed that the animal parts were packed in 16 sacks found in the animal export section.

However, the suspect linked to the package is said to have escaped while detailing how their suspicion grew when the goods were being exported.

According to Mr. Sambo, the smell from the sacks caught the attention of some authorities, which got them to do some checks.

Upon careful inspection, they found donkey parts in a consignment estimated to be worth 200 million Naira ($478,000; £416,000).

Meanwhile, Nigerian law forbids the export of donkey parts, whereas donkey parts are sought after in China and used to make traditional medicine.
