American rapper, Lil Wayne has said not being picked as the headliner of the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show broke him.
Nicki Minaj and some fans have criticised Jay-Z, who was in charge of the selection of the headliner of the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, for picking Kendrick Lamar instead of Wayne.
Reacting in a video message that went viral on Friday, Lil Wayne said he blames himself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown.
He said it would have been the greatest honour for him to headline the 2025 Super Bowl in his hometown, New Orleans.
Wayne added that he’s trying to move on from the disappointment.
“That hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together,” he said.
